The end of Chinese New Year!

This weekend marked the end of our 2012 Chinese New Year's celebrations! The Chinese really know how to party since they make their holiday last two weeks!
Saturday we had "Chinese school" here at the house. The kids learned a few words and then we did three crafts!
There is just something about children from China, they never want to all sit on the couch and have their picture made! Maybe it will happen when they are 18!

On Sunday we had our COFCC Chinese New Year party! Rusty was able to bybass this years event so he could work.(I still think he was just sleeping!) Jaden and I met up with the Rogers family and enjoyed the food, the show and a little shopping. I was disappointed in the lack of shopping available this year but that is ok since we will be going to China and doing some real shopping later this year!
Jaden loved the lion dance. She watched a few of the kids dance and then informed me that she really needed a nap! We have never made it to the end of the event so Jaden never gets a red envelope. Maybe some day...

Busy week!

Jaden and I have had a busy week and it only gets busier for the weekend with Chinese class and or FCC Chinese New Year's party! The week started out with a playdate with friends!
We also learned while at the cafe that Jaden is not afraid of a good fight! While we were talking I heard "I told you not to hit my friend!" and the next thing I see Jaden is hitting some little boy! There was hair pulling and everything! Come to find out he had hit Leah and Jaden was taking up for her! This happened a total of three times. The boy would just not leave the girls alone! Jaden did have him in tears though!
Wednesday we had out LAST homestudy visit for baby brother Warren. It was going to be a nice calm day with no last minute cleaning but we had a surprise when we got up!
Gabbie was able to get quite alot of dirt into the air vent! The dog has gone nuts! She is 10 and has never done this before. So if anyone wants a 10 year old schnauzer call me up!
Today we had gymnastics! This involves getting up at the crack of dawn in Jaden's world! When I woke her up she said "my back and my boobies hurt, I can't go!" I have no clue where she got that from! But she did have to go and was very glad once she got there! Today was PJ day so this gave mommy extra time because I didn't have to get my wiggle worm dressed!
And we ended the day with a much needed hair cut for Jaden!
And yes she kept her PJ's on all day!!!

Chinese silk photo session!

Ok so Chinese New Years began last Monday. And for us last Monday began with a sick girl which then turned into a sick mom and was followed by a sick dad. Thanks to our little petrie dish we all got some virus that was going around. For some reason it has decided it really likes our family and is back again this week. My plan was to get Jaden all dressed in her Silks and take some Chinese New Year pictures. That didn't happen on Monday! But luckily for me when the Chinese have a holiday they like to live it up and party for two weeks! So on Sunday Jaden got dressed up in her silks and did a little photo session with me. Now Jaden loves the fact that she was born in China but there is one thing she really hates about being Chinese. These dang dresses! She cries and says they itch her. But this time I told her if she would wear her dresses then she would get a kit kat bar! And it worked! I don't know if she will fall for it again when she has to wear it for our COFCC Chinese New Year party this weekend!
So after a 20 minute photo shoot and 10 minutes trying to get the dress off and over her head, she finally got her reward! It was all worth it!

Back to school!

We decided to take a long holiday break from Chinese school this year. We hold it at our house twice a month but we have not met since before Thanksgiving. This host needed a break! This past weekend we went back into full swing. We decided to focus on Chinese New Year this week so there were crafts centered around the New Year. The big bonus of this class was that we learned how to make dumplings! Debbie was nice enough to show all the kids how to make dumplings and they each got to make two themselves. They also got to try out some of her dumplings. And Debbie was nice enough to show the parents how she mixed up the dumpling mix! I can't wait to make my first batch. Now I have to figure out how to make hot dog and mac and cheese dumplings since that is the only thing Jaden will eat!!!
