WE GOT MORE PAPERWORK!

When we got back from Christmas in Ohio our Ohio paperwork was in the mail. Yhea! This was Rusty's birth certificate and his employment letter. It had been at the Chinese consulate in New York. I was worried it would take awhile because of the transit strike. Of course all of my TN paperwork is still in New York at the authentication department, hopefully we will have them soon so that we can send them to the Chinese Consulate in Washington DC. Our paperwork is getting to go places we have never been. Once we have all this done I am going to forward it all to our adoption agency CCAI, so they can have everything reviewed except of course the I171H. It has now been 29 days since we have been fingerprinted. Only 4 weeks but it seems like forever! That is all we are waiting on. I was hoping to have it in the mailbox for Christmas but oh well. Maybe we will have a happy New Year!

PAPERS BACK FROM HOUSTON

We received our papers back from Houston yesterday! This was my birth certificate and our marriage license. Everything was in Chinese so I have no clue as to what it says. But I am sure that it says what it is supposed to say. :-) I finally let Rusty do something, he got to take the paperwork that originated in TN and mail it to the New York State department for authentication. This included our adoption petition, both of our medical forms, our financial statement, my employment letter, both of our police clearances, and the homestudy. I had a hard time letting him do this because I felt better doing it myself. I probably told him 50 times what he had to do because it has te be done acertain way. The state department will not except us postal mail, it has to be fed ex or ups. But on the way back they will only except usps return mail. Makes no since. So Rusty did everything right in the beginning. At the ups office the guy asked Rusty if he could cut off the bottom of the paperwork so it would fit in the envelope. Thank goodness Rusty told him no because his wife would kill him! In the end they folded the bottom so that was ok. I asked Rusty about the tracking numbers so I could track the paperwork and know where it is. He got the ups numbers but he did not get the usps return mail numbers! I am trying not to stress out. We hope that the post office does not lose our paperwork. I have faith in them, I think. If we dont have the paperwork in 2 weeks I will stress. But we learned a good lesson. From now on I will handle everything! :-)

My papers are gone!

We sent of our first groups of papers today to be authenticated at the Chinese consulate. We had to send my birth certificate and our marriage license to Houston because they originated from Mississippi and we had to send Rusty's birth certificate and employment letter to New York because they originated in Ohio. I did not want to let them go. The man at the post office told me not to get upset or he might have to go postal on me! I have worked so hard getting all this paperwork done I dont want them to lose it. When we send off our paperwork that originated in TN I may have to be mailed with it to make sure they done lose it. :-)
We are getting so close I cant believe it. Of course we are still waiting for our I171H. I think we will be waiting a while. I have heard awful stories about how long it is taking everyone to get their I171H. Some people are even getting their State Senators involved because of how long it takes! Hopefully we will not get to that point. Trust me everyone will know when we get our I171H! I will call everyone. That will be our last piece of paperwork and then the wait really begins!
