Well I was the lucky recipient of shower #2 two weeks ago. This one was thrown by my sister in law and mother in law in Ohio. We had a wonderful time and Jaden got lots of great gifts! We had a brunch so we had wonderful breakfast foods and even mimosas. How many mothers to be can drink that at their shower? :-)
I have pictures, but I cant find my cord to transfer them to the computer. I will keep looking and upload them later! So here is a run down of some of the gifts we received. Quilts by her grand mother, bath seat and toys, blankets, bath towels, lots of books, a diaper cake, toys, stroller from Nana in MS, among other things. Everyone was informed not to bring clothes because Jaden needs no clothes, at least not until she is 4! I had to spend my time in someway! Now I am trying to find places to put everything. We are waiting until we get back from China to do our last shower in Mississippi with my family. The reason we are waiting until we get back to do that one is because they live 12 hours away and there are many people who are waiting for Jaden to come home. I know we have family in Ohio that are also waiting but they only live less then 2 hours away and they will have alot of opportunity to see Jaden. There are alot of people that cant make a 12 hour trip when we bring Jaden home, including my grandparents. So that is why we have chosen to wait until we get home from China.
Now onto my thoughts. Once again I know that some people do not think we should have a shower before we have our daughter home with us. My questions for those who think that is why is it ok for a mother with a biological child to have a shower before the birth of their baby and not for an adoptive mother to do the same? Do we not need the same things for our child that are needed for someones bio baby? Should the upcoming "birth" of an adoptive child not be celebrated like the upcoming birth of a biological child? Is one better then the other? I think not. Adoptive parents want to be celebrated in the same way. Yes we know that we have no "due date" (well we do but it keeps changing) but there will be a WONDERFUL outcome to our "pregnancy" and it should be celebrated also! Ok I have had my say, I feel better.
I will post again soon with news of referrals. Looks like we may be able to say only 19 days of LIDs left!!!
